1.AISI O1 steel introduction
AISI O1 is a high-performance oil-quenchable tool steel that exhibits excellent wear resistance, cutting edge retention and machining ease due to its high carbon (0.85-1.00%) and tungsten (0.40-0.60%) content. It can be oil-quenched to a stable hardness of 60-64 HRC with minimal deformation, making it suitable for precision cold working dies, stamping tools and woodworking tools. Its excellent polishability and economy make it the first choice for small batch production and high-precision measuring instruments (such as gauges and fixtures). 5. AISI O1 Tool Steel Heat Treatment
Annealing: Heat AISI O1 steel to 760-790°C (1400-1450°F), hold for 2 hours, then slow cool at ≤10°C/h. Final hardness: ≤212 HB.
Quenching: Oil quench from 800-830°C (1472-1526°F) for optimal hardness.
Tempering: Temper AISI O1 at 150-200°C (302-392°F) for 1-2 hours to achieve 60-64 HRC. Double tempering recommended for dimensional stability.
